But Inevitably

There was a night a few years ago, after we had all gone out and then brought burritos home. We fired up Mariah Carey's epic The Adventures of Mimi tour on Palladia. It was three of us guys and a girl that one of the guys was kinda into. She found it a bit strange that we needed to have Mariah on at three in the morning but it didn't faze her too much. (And I think my friend got the girl, although he won't confirm or deny.)

We still have that concert saved on the DVR because it really needs to be rewatched every holiday season. If you can't tell, I'm on a Mariah kick because of a Bill Simmons' article about her. It's really a must read. Digging into my iTunes, I was surprised by how many Mariah songs I didn't have. After asking my friends to send me their Mariah MP3s, I noticed that one of them was labeled "baby shower soundtrack." There's so many things wrong about this. I mean, baby showers have soundtracks? Seriously? At which point is that used?

I'd forgotten that one of my goals this year was to get an article up on Grantland. I mean, sports and pop culture, that's like stuff I should be able to crank out in my sleep. I better come up with something amazing and get it to Mr. Simmons soon. What Bill Simmons has done for America is to make it okay for males to showcase their obsessiveness over reality shows, 80's movies, and 90210. For that we should all thank him.

In-between concerts, Mariah spends her time resting her voice and sleeping in a humidified room. Now you know.
